Two-stage worm gearboxes are used when it is necessary to significantly increase the torque and reduce the speed of rotation of the shaft. They differ in an increased gear ratio. The axes of the input and output shafts of the mechanism are arranged in parallel.
In fact, they are two single-stage gearboxes located in a common housing. The combination of different stages makes it possible to increase the gear ratio of the mechanism to several thousand units. Most often, such mechanisms are used in installations for which high kinetic accuracy of operation is important.
